PlanetScale has deployed millions of EBS volumes in data centers around the world.
@nvw.io shares insight on the real failure rate of these volumes, and how even minor failures can have a large impact on production workloads.
4/ We hope that, by raising awareness of these benefits, we can help build support for #NOAA ’s essential mission even as it comes under threat from the current administration.
3/ As demonstrated by these responses, public data are crucial to the operations of private sector weather, climate, and geospatial companies and provide a huge ROI for the American taxpayer.

💡ICYMI: Last week, we released v6.5.0 of Prisma ORM.
Here are the highlights:
⭐️ No more DB resets during development
⚙️ Prisma Studio support in `prisma.config.ts`
⛓️ Allow for chaining `$on` and `$extends`

🤔 Did you ever need to work with multiple databases in the same app?
With Prisma ORM, you can access as many databases as you need! Simply define one `.prisma` schema file per database, generate your type-safe DB clients and start querying 🚀

honestly just nvme baremetal machines and self-managing postgres is fine i barely give it attention, it scales and very rarely goes down. easy
love to hear that, wasn't sure if i was sharing too much! might write a blog post at some point
part of why i'm upgrading it soon haha basically the prometheus scrape timing out because it can't count a few 100m rows fast enough, classic oltp
(though it's DEFINITELY going to be upgraded pretty soon lol)
adding 700k-1m lines of shell a day, and still paying <100EUR/mo for the database server 😌
