ugh, the typos in the original post here… I wish Bluesky had an edit button
(for clarity, i would quote jane but she is not on bluesky and her mastodon acct is defunct, i would follow her if i was on threads and you should if you're on threads but i am not on threads www.threads.net/@wongmjane)
like, the textbox-and-chat ui is what people like, but man this is boring and feels like nothingness
figma is a company that built the first real webassembly app, and set all the standards for real-time interaction, plus did line networks in drawings, like real, whiz-bang, move-the-world-forward innovations. and given llms, they build the same thing everyone else builds? a textbox?
figma building an extremely generic looking boring code builder tool that is has the same ui as every other code builder tool is a reason why i do not think that the 'ai wave' is a very interesting or good time in technology www.threads.net/@wongmjane/p...

The talk will cover how PlanetScale offers unlimited scalability and powerful features for operating large MySQL databases.

This separation of concerns means VHV can update pricing, add new products, or change marketing materials without rebuilding their applications.
The result is more than technical efficiency - it's a competitive edge in Germany's insurance market.
What makes this approach powerful? Directus handles the complex data management behind the scenes, while the frontend technologies deliver excellent user experiences.
The new system delivers:
• Tariff calculators that update instantly across all platforms
• Centralized marketing shops for consistent brand messaging
• Self-service broker portal with real-time resources
• Simple APIs that connect to core insurance systems
• Development focus on CX, not maintenance
By connecting their Angular and Next.js frontends to a unified backend built with Directus, Neoskop completely changed how VHV manages their digital sales tools.
VHV Insurance needed to serve 10,000+ brokers with tariff calculators, marketing tools, and resources - but maintaining separate systems for each was slowing them down. 🧵

🧵 Event details in the thread below.
i'd probably prefer a5 over h3 for a new project because of the more consistent cell sizes and the fact that the ref impl is in ts instead of c, and the fact that h3 is not purely hexagonal always annoyed me. but i am not seriously making that choice so idk. both are cool!
nice off-the-shelf non-rectangular tilings are nice and i'm glad they exist - they're really useful for visualization, sometimes useful for data joins. i think they're sometimes overused (like their use in database-like spatial indexes or as an alternative to storing coords for known locations)
the popular kid right now is h3 h3geo.org which is hexagons and a few pentagons thrown in because there's no pure-hexagonal tiling of a sphere
a new pentagonal challenger enters the geospatial tesselation wars a5geo.org
